Last week I made cheese and vegetable pasties for "free". Leftover mash and veg from Sunday lunch, mixed with a slightly dried up piece of cheese (grated) and used as a filling for pasties using left over pastry that I had previously frozen.
Also used up a couple of wholemeal bread buns in a bread pudding recipe from the Cranks book - this did three portions for dessert on day 1, DH and I both took a portion each to work for the next 2 days and DD ate the final portion for breakfast.0 -
Aren't we all doing really well!
I've just dug up a large plant pot full of potatoes, 3/4 of a bucket in fact, that grew from two I had that had sprouted quite a bit. That's a lot of free potatoes from just 2. I have another potful on the go that hopefully will be as productive. I had some for my dinner tonight, together with some green beans given to me by my next door neighbour and some broad beans grown in my garden from plants I had given in Spring. The only thing I had to pay for was a special offer lamb steak and a few special offer carrots. Will be using up the leftovers tomorrow as well as getting my slow cooker into action to use up more free veg and special offer meat.
I've picked about 1lb of free blackberries today that will join the free elderberries I already have in the freezer waiting to be made into wine.
My halo is shining:A0
