Ipod - Help Please

Have bought a second-hand ipod for my daugher. A bargain as the previous owner had only had it for a few weeks and decided it didn't hold enough tunes so sold it for a fraction of its value. How do I delete his tunes - can't find anything in the instruction book. Any help would be appreciated as I'm not very good with gadgets, etc.

Plug it in and it should automatically sync with Itunes and remove any songs that are not in your collection.
That is if you have set it to auto sync.
If you haven't then you can just click the Ipod icon in Itunes (when it appears on the left) and manage it through that.
