'Unlock Sim' chip

I have a Nokia n71 locked to T-mobile, and I am transferring to Orange. I've already requested my number to be ported. I paid for T-mobile to unlock my phone, but the code they gave me failed and said 'Not Allowed', which seems to mean that my phone cannot be unlocked.

I really don't want to have to buy a new phone, as that defeats the point of going on PAYG in the first place. A google search revealed this website http://www.unlock123.com/nokia/n73.asp which has an unlock sim which apparently piggybacks on your existing sim allowing it to be unlocked. Is it a scam, does it work, is there a cheaper way to do it?

The phone should unlock with the code from the network. I've never know one fail ?

Have you called them ? It could be a mistake on their system somewhere...
  • its a easy unlock for the market / unlock shop.... don't need to unlock by code

If you've paid T-Mobile get back onto them - tell them you want a working code.
