Mic and Line-in

Hi
Can anyone help please
My mic and line In ,when i go from control panel - Sound to the Recording panel are not plugged in .
My question is how do i plug them in and get them working?
I'm running vista

not plugged in? Have you tried putting your cable jacks in the sockets and seeing if it auto detects. Cause I have 3 jack sockets on mine when I plug the mic in a window opens giving me a list of options to tell the computer what it is.

Its pretty difficult to tell what you mean - it could be a number of things that aren't right.

Firstly do you mean the front panel line in and mic are not working? Do you have these options on the rear of the machine and if so are they working? If they are it's likely to be that your front panel audio header is not connected - you will need the 'motherboard map' located in the hardware manual and to connect the leads inside the pc from front panel to motherboard exactly as shown.

Or do you mean that in control panel your soundcard is not showing up?
