Lloyds Bank Charges

Yesterday my husband got a letter through the post saying that he was having £20 a day of charges put against his account as he had set up a payment out prior to a cheque clearing.

When we looked into his account we couldn't see why, they were both set up for the same day.

He went to the bank, and challenged this and appears the bank are setting their system up to pay out before processing paying in therefore his account was out of funds for 4 mins on the same day, the bank backed down straight away and agreed to refund the charges.

I wonder how many others this has happened to. It seem they are out to make money.

If the cheque was paid into the account it would show the balance as an amount includsive of the cheque. I suspect it was a first charge which is why they refunded it.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
