Can you play X Box online for free?

My Brother and myself had an argument the other day about the xbox as he says you can play online for free if your xbox has the 60gig hd or above.

Can anyone confirm this?

This came about as I'm a PS3 owner and I was winding him up about how pants the xbox is with reliability and online gaming :rotfl:

    now ypu cant play online for free you pay but when you buy a new console you get a months free

    When you set up a new GamerTag you get a month free. Now whether you could keep doing this month after month, I don't know.

    You would also have no achievements on the on-line account if you kept changing.

    I can't remember what it's called, but I know at least for the old xBox you can; you have to have a network hub and a computer. The program then basically creates a "system link" between xbox's across the globe.

    i think that once you have used the 1 months free of gold xbox live for 1 gamertag eg joebloggs9 then you would have to pay for a subscription unless you downgraded to silver. Ive not tried theis myself but you might be able to create another gamertage eg joebloggs10 and get xbox live free for another month but i think theres a limit as to how many tags you can create on the xbox and/or how many free 1 months of xbox live

    Reliabilty is better on the newer machines and by most accounts, on-line gaming is better on the Xbox.

    He'll have quite a laugh back at you when your console is struck by the yellow light won't he?

    XBL is a far better gaming environment than PSN, and that's my opinion from having access to both of them.

    i think it does work, not used it myself but i think it can be a bit laggy
