paid £126 more than I needed to, can i get a refund?

I have just spent £725 on a new bath in Wickes (pricey I know but I have only spent about £100 on the sink, taps and shower thanks to ebay)

Anyway, the sales adviser gave me the name of the delivery company to ring on Monday to confirm delivery date, and I made the mistake of typing the delivery company's name into google. I then noticed on their website the other high street stores they deliver for and found the same bath is sold through Tesco's bathrooms for £599 :eek::eek:

My question is-assuming Wickes will not price match, is there any reason why I cant cancel my order and get a refund?

I know this is really chavvy thing to do, but knowing I could spend £126 more than I need to for the identical product that will be dispatched at exactly the same time (minus the clubcard points) doesnt really feel me with glee. The terms and conditions on Wickes' website say they do not refund special orders, but as this was just a 'off the shelf' bath-this shouldnt be included right?

Being nosey, I have tried to work out which bath you have bought. :D

On Tesco's website I can only find one bath they sell at £599.
They call it the Milano Crown freestanding bath.

There is a bath on Wickes website which looks very similar. The Organic Bath, but that costs £1486.00.

I cannot imagine these are the same bath.
The point I am really trying to make is are you absolutely sure that the Wickes bath you have ordered is exactly the same as the Tesco one you have found?

It could be that the Tesco one you have seen is in some way inferior to the one you have ordered.

If it was bought in store then the simple answer is no unless they have a change of mind policy. Wickes offered you the bath at a particular price and you agreed to pay it. You agreed at the time that £725 was an acceptable price to pay.

Why don't you ask them what their policy is?

However, if you bought it online or over the phone then it is different. You can return an item within seven days of receiving it. But this does not include bespoke/personalised items, this is probably what they mean by special orders. If the bath you ordered was made to measure or customised in some way then they don't have to refund you.

KeithP, good detective work!, yes it is the Wickes Organic and the Tesco's Milano Crown. They 'look the same', have identical measurements and installation instructions (the wickes instructions are headed 'crown bath'. They are also distributed by the same company, there is a possibility that they are not the same, but i doubt it!.

To the other posters who have said 'tough luck, lump it', I get it. Buyer beware etc... which is why I havent gone into wickes with some pony sob story, or contacted my bank. No one likes wasting money though do they?

    Nice bathtub!

I would go back to Wickes and ask for a refund anyway. Don't tell them it's because you've found it cheaper - tell them anything but that! Got to be worth a shot. Absolutely try it.

You can also get 3% cashback via Quidco if you get it from Tesco direct.

I presume "off the shelf" means you buy it instore straight away, as you have had to order it in and its now ready for despatch you may not be able to cancel, good luck anyway
