Do you charge for childminding?

  • I look after my youngest grand child one day a week, and his other grandma has him another day. Neither of us get paid, and neither of us really need the money. My dd & sil take us out for a meal occasionally to say thankyou. We both offered to look after him and it saves my dd some cash.

Plus my grandchildren are exceptionally intelligent & fabulous, so its a pleasure to have them!

  • Hi

I know several people who look after their grandkids. Two of them look after them fulltime ie 9am - 6pm in one case, 5 days a week. They pay their mums because the mums gave up part time jobs to look after the kids on their childrens request, but its like £50 a week which is nothing. The only problem is with one of them her tight fisted DIL only pays her when she has the child so when they have a weeks holiday the women doesnt get any money so the women who is a pensioner and has very little money anyway really misses that money, but she wouldnt dream of mentioning this to her son and DIL as she doesnt want to appear mean. It just shows that these things need to be hammered out first before child minding occurs
