secret wedding and witness problem

Just emailed one of my witnesses to finalise plans cos her phone is constantly off at moment, and she then decided it would be a good time to tell me she has made other plans for the day:mad:

We have one guaranteed witness who will be there come h3ll or high water but am completely lost now, feel badly let down. Cant pull anyone in from the street cos its at the courthouse and located in a very quiet area, cant ask anyone else to do it especially with it being on thursday morning, h2b just reminded me that we cant ask any family members as we intend to announce it after the fact and this is what we both wanted, the friend who let me down knows this though, she knows we are both very private and shy. Would really welcome any ideas or even anyone who wants to stand in!

Oh that's not very nice of her...where are you located...I'm sure one of us ladies on here might be able to help.
  • oh no, have you any work colleagues you've confided in who might be willing to step in?
  • oh btw, i am available on the 10th but may be busy with new hubby ;)

H2b says you can be excused:rotfl:

We dont work anymore as we are both disabled (h2b is desparately hoping to stay out of his wheelchair on the day).

I have a really good friend but she works with my mum and dont know if it would be fair to ask her and at such short notice, my parents are on holiday anyway but would hate for her to feel guilty. H2b is waiting for one of his friends to call him back but now I dont care if it is a stranger as long as they care enough to actually want to be there!
  • I would be really upset if my friend let me down like that, (((hugs))). It may be worth a call to the registrar to ask if they could help? Maybe there's someone in the courthouse could be your 2nd witness? As Aimee said, are you willing to put what town you're in & maybe someone can help out?
I hope you get itsorted & enjoy your day x

Indeed - to echo earlier sentiment - I'm sure one of us would stand in as a witness for you if you want.

Could you tell us the county you are in at any rate - and then we'll know if we are anywhere near you?

I sincerely hope that you find someone hun.

I'd offer but I doubt that you'd be anywhere near me, if you are though...
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!

Im feeling confident that we will get someone, am keeping a positive attitude! Will ring the registry office tomorrow because we have already informed them who the witnesses will be out of courtesy.

The witness you do have can he/she bring someone? I did this when I got married before, noone knew we were getting married and I ask a girl I worked with and to be honest do not know all that well, her boyfriend was the second witness and we did not meet him until the registry office, come to think of it do not think I ever seen him again afterwards either lol
