Single parent - own mortgaged home - maintanence grant?

Hi Guys
Wonder if anyone can help me out with this one...
I am a single parent and next year hoping to go on to Uni - Can anyone tell me if owning your own home (on a mortgage) would affect the amount of support SLC would give you?
I know that if I was to sign on I'd be entitled to full benefits regardless of any assumed capital in my property... however unsure as to the stance of SLC on this one....
Also I'm going to have to move from my home to study as the course isn't offered locally...
any advice would be really appreciated...
many thanks

Owning your own house doesn't affect your SLC entitlement anymore than savings do. If you are going to be renting out your house then this classes as taxable income so may affect your entitlement but unless you earn a substantial amount from the rent it's unlikely to have much of an effect.0

Thanks MrsManda
Will this mean I am entitled to maximum parents grants/maintanence/special support grants?
And
Does anyone know if this is the same for England residents studying in Scotland? (As I am applying north of the border too...
thanks in advance...0 -
Hi,
When my husband took his full-time foundation degree three years ago, he wasn't working, although I was, and we had a mortgage - he was entitled to Student loan, maintenance help and childcare help. HTH
Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'
