DVD Camcorders - finalize function?

Hi all,
I am looking into buying a compact DVD camcorder. If anyone has one, could you answer a question for me ... say you record 2 hours of footage, and 30 mins of it is rubbish that you want to cut out - can you do this before finalizing it to the disc? (Can you edit it on the screen on the camera?). Or when you record, does everything go straight onto the disc and you have to edit it after on your computer or something?
Also, can you easily make & title chapters on the DVD while it's in the camera, or is this something you again have to do after on the PC?
