Computer crashing

I am looking for ideas here. I have virgin broadband and am happy with it. I can spend hours on this site without problems. However, if I go on to my local newspaper site the computer always crashes. Sometimes after 15 minutes, or sometimes after only a couple of minutes. I have no idea why this should be and am hoping that some techie out there might be able to come up with a pointer or two, as to where to look.
The site is http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/ This also happens on other sites of the many newspapers owned by these people. The symptom of the crash is that the computer freezes and the problem can only be resolved by rebooting. It is extremely annoying. Any help will be gratefully received.

I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

If it's only certain web sites, it's probably the adverts on that site or something to do with JavaScript on that site. I'd try getting an advert blocker, particularly for Flash adverts. If that doesn't work try switching off JavaScript temporarily and see if that works.
I've found specific adverts before that use absolutely huge amounts of computer resources making my machine unusable. Blocking the ads solved the problem.
I use Firefox browser, an extension called FlashBlock and another called AdBlock.0 -

Thanks for your replies. I switched off Javascript and the News site is much improved. I have been on it for quite a while and it has not crashed yet. I will give it a hammering later on today and see what happens.I can afford anything that I want.
