Can Credit Expert check be wrong?

Hello Im a newby and this is my first post begging for help.

My boyfriend has always admitted to being a bit silly with loans and credit card when he was younger, so when we saw the free trial for credit expert he decided to give it a go.

He was very surprised to find that there was a Barclays credit card in his name for £850 .

He contacted Barclays right away, he gave them all his details including his old address (parents) before we moved in together. They confirmed that they DID NOT have any record of him owing them any money :j.

The next month he got a statement from them showing that he owed them £850. Again he called them and was told he defo did not.

We have been going backward and forward with them for nearly a year and we keep getting demand letters, debt collectors and statements all showing that he owes it.

Everytime we get one we ring barclays and are told the same thing NOTHING OWED and they promise to send a letter confirming it, but no matter how many times they promise to have sent it, we never get the letter.

Now credit expert are showing that the amount keeps going up because of none payment charges and it is about to go into default.

Can anyone help !!!!

As Experian et al record information given to them from the financial bodies like Barclays in your example, then it's not Credit Expert that are necessarily wrong - it's the organisation giving them the information.

I think your boyfriend need to write formally to Barclays (not e-mail) and raise a complaint and then, if necessary and he exhausts their complaints procedure, I would be contacting the Financial Ombudsman Service (must follow Barclays procedure first though).
