Lad starting secondary school. The school have said Black Shoes.
We have bought these but they look a tad too sporty.
What do you think?

my 10 year old wanted them,he said they were "mega comfy", but i know his junior school would class them as trainers, so we got him these

I know what you mean OP, I wondered as well if the younger kids version were a bit too trainer-esque, but then figured that DS2 is only 4 so if he wants comfy shoes, he can have them! And as they are black then I don't think they are noticeably trainer-like.0

in my DD's school you would just about get away with the first pair lol as long as they are black and not specifically trainers they are not fssed, especially for the younger lot.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

I'd probably go with the more shoe looking ones for a secondary child, but dd(7) has these this time:

and I'm not expecting any problem from the school.
I wasn't too sure when I first saw them but they are very comfortable and she is quite hard on shoes, so I wanted something sturdy.0 -

I think they look fine, like an average school shoe as opposed to trainers.0 -
