Better sound from DVD player

Hi,

I sold my surround sound speakers for my Samsung DVD player as we didn't have room for them, and also had a TV with surround sound.
However, the sound through the TV is so quiet even at max volume! I have a Scart cable attached between the TV and DVD player. Is it simply the case that I need to buy and attach an RCA audio cable between the two units to improve the sound? Will the sound automatically improve after this without me needing to tamper with settings, as I no longer have the DVD player instruction manual?
Very frustrating as I am trying to watch Battlestar Galatica on DVD and can't hear them telling everyone to 'Frack off'!
Thanks.

i shouldnt think so, its still the same signal just carried down a different cable unless something is wrong with the cable, its worth a try, i not fiddle with the settings on the tv, shouldnt be too hard, no manual needed tbh.

Some dvd player have a option in settings to adjust the volume, not all of them do that but I have had some that do.

Surround sound is better for films you can get small speakers now, okay the bass speaker may still be large, but my Yamaha has small but load speaker, shame the amp is huge though

    Hi,

Just a thought, sounds like the DVD player is set up for surround output. Most TV's only have left/right input. So change the settings on the DVD player to stereo output, not dolby or surround. Think this will cure the problem.
