Which supermarket is cheapest?

  • I would agree about Sainsburys ethical stance being much more admirable than the other supermarkets. I would also add in addition to line caught fish and fairtrade bananas (both available in basics) their 28p for 80 basics tea bags are also, incredibly, fairtrade!!

on the subject of mysupermarket, Iw ould agree that you should take care with the comparitive products they place in the other's baskets. However, our main savings are shown on mysupermarket as the barn eggs. We buy 3x 18 packs each shop (we share them round the family, lol). They cost a total of £5.55 at Sainsburys. The barn egg equivalents at both asda and tesco (their value eggs are from caged hens) cost £9.92! A rather huge difference.

I think I would try Sainsbury's more often if I didn't hate the Nectar card so much!
tesco points are much better value!

I guess at the end of the day, whichever supermarket you shop at, in one way or another they will all come out even.

Another thumbs up for Sainsburys- I find their fruit and vegetables to be better quality than Tescos. Our local Sainsburys is love to shop in, compared to the hectic noise that is Tescos

Ah- Sainsburys may get more votes in the quality states, but they are unfortunetly not the cheapest- would be good if they were- would be fantastic of they offered a card with decent reward points! 0.5% off to Tescos 2% off (if you don't trade them in for a deal or double up voucher) is just Sainsburys laughing at its customers- the Nectar card needs a serious make-over!

I'd say sainsburys the best for quality, tesco is generally cheaper but not always as this is the supermarket where I'm completely drawn to their marketing tactics and impulse buys:rolleyes:
but the points kind of recoup that!

Yes i totally agree with that, and i have the time and patience to shop around for the best bargains...

Aldi, Lidl and to some extent Netto are brilliant for individual things....their veg/fruit is usually excent quality and fresh, Pepsi 2 litre today in Lidl...50p............and these 3 shops are helping to keep the big guys prices down.....

Went to Tescos yesterday....first time in ages(as dont get many mocs now)...WOW..how expensive..........the only thing cheap was Parazone, and Asda have Domestos on and loads of cleaning stuff cheaper..........and those sweets...........How many years ago was it we paid £10 a tin.........but they tried this last year.........and brought them down again a month later....

I complained yesterday, that the Massive 2 for £1 signs below the Parazone,Flash, Dettol and other stuff, seemed to imply it was ALL 2 FOR £1..NOT JUST THE BLEACH......didnt get much response tho........but then again, I didnt expect any......

    Why did i go i hear u ask, Well i spent £58 ...used a £4 off £40, a £3 off £30, a couple of scappy ones.......got a 5p off petrol, a £5 off beer........went to the Petrol Station, used a £4 a £3 and the 5p off per litre..........and took the £50 item back today as it wasnt suitable...lol
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.
