Car Insurance - how to save?

Hi
My son is about to buy his first car and as expected the amount of insurance is off the Richter scale!
He is technically a student but on a schollarship with a local football team (newly relegated - no jokes please!), he has passed his coaching badge and coaches younger players. He also has a part time job as a food waiter and occasionally helps me in my IT job. (Busy lad!)
My question to those in the know is....which is the best profession to state when requesting a quote? If it makes a big diference he could even find a job with lots of diferent local tradespeople (if you know what I mean!;) )
My aim is not to cheat but to be a bit more savvy when requesting a quote.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Cheers
Mark F

I've tried that too! Luckily I had a friend at a local insurance broker who let me try a number of combinations, but I suspect most high street brokers would be reasonably accomodating. Then just use the knowledge found to shop around again.

I ended up staying with my original job description in the end as everything else pushed it up!

'Professional' is always a good starting point;)

I've found the following insurance companies to be very good for the 'younger generation'

    DirectLine
    Admiral
    Chruchill
    Tesco

Usually quoting/buying online saves you 10% also!

    Best of luck:D
New car (not even 2months old) up for sale:-

    Ford Focus Sport 1.8TDCi 5dr '06' plate
    Sea Grey
    2600miles
    P.M for more details

He can save a fortune if he takes a 'passplus' course.
