Recommendations For USB Hard Drive Please

Hi folks

I'm trying to find a reliable USB Hard Drive (250GB or larger) but the more research I do the harder it becomes to find one that gets largely (or better still unanimously) good reviews. Western Digital, Iomega, etc. all attract some surprisingly poor comments by purchasers on Am*zon.
Any personal recommendations please? Which company would be best for reliability? Do we have any which subscribers on board? ;-)

Thanks

I have a 250GB freecom, Its the best value one I could find, FREE as a tesco misprice a few month ago.

I would find out about the drive inside that is used personally, and choose a reliable one the casing maybe nice ect but if the drives fail a lot than it is no good, western digital drives I have found to be very reliable and quiet. All mobile storage is suspect to knocks sot he case is important but the best case wont compensate for a bad drive anyway.

I also have a USB addaptor it has an IDE connector and power connecter at 1 end and the other end has a usb plug a bare external drive very crude but I can make any IDE hard drive I have work from a USB port.

Currently on promotion a 250 GB Seagate External Hard Drive for £89.99 from Maplin. Not forgetting you get free delivery on orders over £35 (which this is)!! Go through Quidco for 5% cashback on a successful transaction. :j

Aria have got a 250GB one (and I mean one, as in quantity) on offer today with a Maxtor drive for about £75, but I think there's delivery to pay on top of that. http://www.aria.co.uk/specials.asp

I'd agreee that it's all about the drive inside the casing, but different people have diferent opinions about good/bad makes depending on what has failed on them.

I've had 3 Western Digital drives fail, but I have a good track record with seagate.

    I'd go with the Seagate.
