TV Card at Aldi

I was wondering if anyone had bought the £30 tv card from Aldi which was on sale recentley, i believe it was a Hauppauge one (but not 100% sure). I have a Dell dimension 5150 and i am looking to purchase a tv card, i noticed that my local Aldi had a few left and wanted to know other peoples experiences with it.

Don't know anyrthing about this card but Hauppage are a good make in this area. I assume it was digital if not I wouldn't bother. Your biggest problem with these cards is not the card itself but your aerial and co-ax cable especially if you live in an area without a great signal.

Personally if it is Hauppage and digital I reckon it will be a good piece of kit and would buy without hesitation.

The Aldi one (£25 in our store) is a Freeview one
  • Bought 1 at £30 and that was cheap, not 100% sure but Kworld DVB-T100 looks the same. The antenna supplied wasn't much use but might be a weak digital area used one in loft and its all good.

I agree that it seems to be the KWORLD DVB-T100 which is definitely digital. Like any TV, they need a good signal usually from an external aerial to work properly. There are various software packages available for free, like ProgDVB that are often better than the software included.

Great card, but don't install the supplied software; rather download updated drivers and software from the Kworld site (or a mirror).

There's a long MSE thread about this from when it was a special weekly offer, and another one at digitalspy forums. I note a few still left in my local Aldi today.

If anyone else is interested, they should be available at all stores from Thursday 11th May.

    Woo!

I'll be going to the local Aldi for this then.

I tend to find that alot of Aldi/Lidl eletronic products are pretty good quality, including the base units Aldi somtimes have in for about £800.

My dad (PC Novice) bought one from Aldi for that price about 6 weeks. He'd installed it no problems and it picks up free view channels and even got Sky Sports news, bouns!
