Plantation shutters have become very popular in these days and can be used individually, or linked together to cover several windows. These shutters can be custom built to your specifications to add a unique look to your home and make a design that comprises your home decorative.
My experience. I fitted UPVC T/T BAY sash windows. Then I decided and I asked different quotes for the shutters. No one of the shutter company mentioned that if you drill the frame of the shutters in the PVC then your warranty is null. You must check with your window company (that if they don't sell shutters) will say that you don't have to make any hole in the PVC. SO not to lose my 10Y warranty on the windows, I asked that the frame of the shutters should be fixed in the architrave of the window. All fine. Unfortunatly 2 year later , the windows need a repair and I discovered that I cannot repair the windows without removing the frame of the shutters. It seems that the company that design the shutter did not considered the T/T facility and made the frame and T post too thick. SO advice: the frame of the shutter not in the frame of the windows. Ask to the shutter company that you must be able to repair the windows if something happens to the windows (broken spring, T/T, glass etc)..
