Neighbour's accusation of buzzing noise

Hello all
This isn't exactly a money saving request, but I have no idea where else to begin with this problem and I'm sure someone here can point me in the right direction. We have an ongoing issue with our upstairs neighbour who plays very loud music in the early hours. We have complained to him, and the council. He is now accusing us of making a loud high-pitched buzzing noise. I have not heard such a noise, and neither have any of the other residents in our block.
He came round this evening and was quite threatening, raised his voice and was very angry about this "noise" and wanted me to turn it off.
I have gone all through the flat and I cannot hear a thing. I didn't even have the TV on when he came round.
I am wondering if anyone knows of any electrical fault which could be causing a buzzing? Is there a way of getting this checked out cheaply, or do I have to spend lots of money hiring an electrician. Is there any possible way that a buzzing noise could be travelling up into his flat without me being able to hear it? I am young and he is old, and my understanding is that the ability to hear high-pitched noises diminishes with age, so I don't see how he could hear something I can't.
I think this man has tinnitus, and have suggested that to him, but he wasn't very impressed. I just want this situation sorted out, and for him to leave us alone!
Any suggestions?

I think you're right and I've suggested that to him but he doesn't believe me. I wish there were a way I could be sure of and prove to him that there isn't a noise coming from my flat.0

My mum had a neighbour who accused her of having a barking dog (she's never owned a dog) and 'a man' in the house. My poor old mum is 88 and been a widow for 30+ years . It turned out the neighbour had mental health problems and heard all sorts of noises. My mum was quite scared of her and was heartily relieved when the neighbour moved. So you have my sympathies even if I can't give you any advice.0

Thanks, that must have been awful for your mum. It's so frustrating how little can be done in this kind of situation.0

Have you been up and listened from his flat?0

My boyfriend has. He went up one night because of his loud music. The guy opened the door wearing industrial strength ear defenders. That was when he first accused us of making the noise. BF went into his flat and listened but couldn't hear anything. That's why we think he has an ear problem. I've invited him to come into our flat to see if he can locate the noise, but he wouldn't come in.0

Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
sounds EXACTLY like my old upstairs neighbour.
Your not on the second floor and him on the third are you? (ground floor being the 1st)
He was a nutter and is the reason I bought my 1st house.“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -
>Any suggestions?<
