London Euston to Paddington by Taxi????

Hi All,

Just wondering how long (time) would it take to catch a taxi from London Euston train station to Paddington Station, also what would the taxi fair likely to be??
On a Sunday Afternoon (this sunday) about 5pm.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have been told "About 10 mins for the trip and £10 fare".
Just wondering how true this is?

It could be, depends on the traffic. Do you *have* to take a taxi? Have you checked out public transport at TFL? http://www.tfl.gov.uk/

Its about 2.5 miles according to http://www.theaa.com/route-planner/index.jsp

Figures are about right. I sometimes take a taxi from paddington to kingscross - st.pancras.

    Why not take the tube?

Estimated Fare using meter at 17:00

    Distance: 3.93 km. | Duration: 14 min.

    first 310.4 meters £2.20
    3.62 km. x £1.29 per km £4.68
waiting in traffic (~6 min.) £2.48
    environmental charge £0.20
    Total £9.55
on a weekend it would be £10.05

Walk/Tube/Bus is easy enough if you don't want to pay over £10 to go 4km...

  • Yeah, 10 minutes and 10 quid is about right.

The journey time is pretty consistent regardless of traffic because the black cabs can use the bus lanes all the way down Marylebone Road.

If it is an option for you, the Tube will likely not be too bad on Sundays, although there can be a bit of a wait. The worst thing is that they can stand at Edgware Road for ages (this happens for Circle Line trains more than H&C trains). If that happens, and you don't have a lot of luggage, it is usually quicker to get off at Edgware and walk to Paddington.

The OP would either need to walk (admittedly not far) to Euston Square or change tubes . And it would still cost £4 per person single without Oyster.

So for two people the taxi isn't so bad, and for three or more it might be cheaper.
