I'm in the process of looking for a new job and it keeps asking me to upload a c.v. I have a cv but not on here yet. It is saved on a cd but using microsoft word.
My question is if i download that free opon office software will it let me upload my c.v onto application forms etc, after i have tranfered it over to open office? I would of thought that most people have microsoft word, so would i be able to upload my version that would be on open office?
Sorry if its a bit long winded!

Both Open Office and MS Office can read .doc files.
i.e. it's not so much "a Word document" as a "document file" that can be read by Word or the Open Office word processor... if that makes sense...0 -

Yes but i'd recommend using the 'save as' option in open office that allows you to save your document as a word file - just to be on the safe side. it'll probably be ok if you don't but as i just have open office i can't check and the last thing you want is someone having problems reading your cv."Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first." (Mark Twain)0

Only if you save it as a .doc file. Open office saves files as its own extension by default, so you need to tell it to save it as a .doc file when you go to "Save As".0 -
Not trying to confuse anyone with this but Word that will be included in Microsoft Office 2007 will use a different format that will be based on XML so I would reccomend getting Open Office and if you believe that the upgrade to Office 2007 is required (which I must say I will be) then you have not wasted hundreds of pounds on software which you will replaced any way with hundreds of pounds of software.0
