Forgot how exhausting a puppy is

Picked up our 8 week old pup today and forgot how exhausting a puppy can be. We had an hour and a half drive home from the breeders, she cried a little but was mostly fine and didn't have any accidents in the car. Got her home and she has been non stop, I've been running round putting newspapers all over the place and she's still missing them! We've had a few mad half hours where I've nearly lost my slippers, throws have been pulled off the sofas. I thought I had moved everything out of her way but she keeps finding something else to sink those little fangs into!

I'm doing the same right now. They get worse once they settle in and find their confidence lol. They chew everything and anything don't they. Not matter how much you think you've puppy proofed the house.
I'm hugely grateful that our puppy was extremely quick paper training, took less than 24 hours. Which I was thrilled with. He did however take three weeks to settle at night.
They are a HUGE effort, but I'm sure you'll agree, they're absolutely worth it.Sigless0 -
Me too, I'm shattered this evening. It's only our 2nd day together and he keeps pulling my table cloth off the table! Love him though and it won't last forever!Be happy, it's the greatest wealth0

Yes totally agree their worth it, at the moment she's lying on my knee snoring like an old man! Will have to wait and see how she settles tonight, fingers crossed we get some sleep!0 -

Same with my last dog. She was almost 20 when she died and still acted like a six month old!Sigless0 -

Charlie, I know what you mean. My pooch is approaching 3 years old and he's still as mad as a brush. I made him that way though, and there isn't a day goes by when I don't laugh my head off at something he's done.
I'd love the "I'm absolutely shattered because the puppy is wearing me out" feeling again. Aw, I'm dog broody!
Good luck 2boys mum, and enjoy it while it lasts! Hide your shoes though! :-)Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0 -
When I first got my puppy Jack I didn't know what hit me! It was just like those forst few days when you bring your new baby home from hospital...you're on 24/7 duty! Holes dug in the garden, the stair carpet snacked on, a pile of puppy poop where you least expect it...! (in my bed, in case you're wondering...!)
But he's 14 months now and a little darling. Gets on brilliantly with my 6 year old dog Lucy and just loves everybody.
It will all be worth it in the end. I promise.0
