Virgin flights & Tesco vouchers question.

Hi,

I never used to shop @ Tesco until I moved & I've now got a few vouchers as does my fella. We are looking to go to Florida next year and see that Virgin accept them. Can anyone please tell me can I use them just to get Virgin flights? If so can we use our 'joint' vouchers for one booking?

Any other tips regarding this would be great.

Depending on how many vouchers you have, you may find it cheaper to book flights without Clubcard vouchers. I understand that the vouchers are valid only against standard fares, not any special promotions or discounted fairs that are often available. If you have loads of vouchers it may be worth it, but if just a few you could find that they actually make the flight more expensive.

I've got the flight prices from their web page, they don't appear to be special promotion prices- I was looking at economy seats outbound and premium economy for the return.

You can't use them against just flights, only against holidays. There is also a £700 per person limit on the vouchers, though you can combine them, you can also combine them unequally, for example £1,000 of yours and £400 of his, as long as they are no more than £1,400 altogether for the two of you.

As well as being able to only book holidays, you have to pay full brochure price, no discounts, and pay cash for any taxes, charges or upgrades. If you have less than £700 each it's probably not worth it, if you have the full £700 it's borderline and you would have to work out the actual costs. But if you walk into a travel agent, you could expect a hefty discount of the brochure price, even Virgin will knock 10% off just for booking online. So if you can only get a few hundred pounds off with the vouchers, you could probably haggle that in a travel agent anyway.

We change our vouchers for airmiles and got a free flight and paid £320 for the other MAN to MCO.
You may be looking too soon for flights next year, although we booked our November flights in March, we also wanted a Virgin flight but found the Continental flight we booked at the time was over £100 cheaper each, We will be on a Virgin flight as its a code share. Although if we waited we could have got a Virgin flight for about the same or less, when the sale were on.

Its hard to know with Airmiles when its best to book but their prices (if they have flights available) are similar to what you can get with other flight bookers.
They were selling the upgraded seat last year at check in I think they were about £150 each way for premium.
