in Credit cards
Today my wife studied a mini-statement (current account) and noticed an amount of £1.84. She queired this at the customer services desk. She was told that sh'd used her card to pay for something costing £1.84.............then had a cash back of £50 ! This was to have taken place at Morrisons Supermarket.
1) She has never used the card for anything less than £20.
2) She has never had cash back.
====Fraud?
We were advised to inform the police and give information, which we did.
We then returned to the Halifax to give details of transactions ie identify when card was used and where.
It seems that my wife did use the card for groceries and the amount was agreed, however, it shows that the next item is the £1.84 purchase and the £50 cashback.
We are now of the opinion that somehow information was retained and misused. BUT, we have the receipt for the KNOWN purchase which identifies the cashier and till.
Also in our favour is the fact that Morrisons still have their section of the receipt which will show signatures, one clearly not hers. I will ensure that she dosen't touch the offending receipt, to ensure there are no fingerprints of hers, thus proving it to be fraud. I will keep you informed, meanwhile she will not be paying by card again.

Or she could carry a large amount of cash around and then get robbed.
Damned if you do, and damned if you don't.0
