Hi Jenny sorry about your prediciment.
How much do you earn?
You need to inform tax credits and start a single claim.
If you are short on rent you could apply for a discretionary housing payment.
Depending on your income you could be entitled to help with your rent and WTC, CTC.
Contact the LA and get your 25% discount off your council tax.0 -
thanks
just informed tax credits and our joint claim has been stopped and they say i may owe them money, also my single claim can take 4 to 6 weeks to come throught so now ive got no money at all
not sure who else to contact so any help would be good0 -
If you could post your income we could point you in the right direction.0

You should get WTC,CTC aswell.
You could get help with your rent, apply at your Local authority.
Try www.entitledto.co.uk for a guide.
Apply to your local authority for a Discretionary housing payment which will help cover any shortfall in your rent.
What sort of debts do you have? Are they priority (rent, CT, electric, gas, water)? or non-priority?
How much are your debts?
(I am trained in debt advice so I might be able to help you out)0 -
thanks
the debts i/we have are 23,000 mortgage had house repo earlier this year, loans and credit cards
the house we are in is a tiny 2 bed and is the cheapest we could find council wouldnt help as we made our selves homeless haveing the house taken off us(hubby lost his job)
the c/t is with the 25% off
we did get £73 a week w/t & c/t but told them today and they say it could take 4/6 weeks to look at it and the £73 i had with hubby has been stopped0 -
Well your debts are non-priority!
My advice is if you have a credit card debt/loan etc with the bank which your salary gets paid into you need to change your bank account otherwise they can access your money.
You need to pay your rent, CT and utility bills over your debts.
Any money you have left over you should negotiate with your creditors offer them a pro-rata sum. Your husband, if he has his name on the debts, is jointly liable. I would advice you to approach the CAB who should take you on as a debt client because you are a singe parent.0 -
