Have a trip to Peel tower near Bury.. maybe buy a kite and have him run around with it.

I took my daughter to the zoo when she was two and a half and she adored it - it was great to see her little face light up

Drayton manor park and Thomasland. £25 each for adults and I think under 5s go free, but check. There is a travlodge on the A5 at Tamworth and there is a £12 room sale on at the moment.

In the lake District there is a Go Ape adventure thingy, but I think a bit too exciting for a two year old. Zoo sounds very good. Safari park? Sea side?
