Bloody hell.....she's my baby still. Seriously tho, good point. I've already told her that I've sewn a texting device in her knickers that will alert me to anyone that's removing them but her!! I think she's got the message, but, as you say, better safe than sorry.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

Some lovely ideas there - thank you all so much!YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

Aww how thoughtful of you - I'm starting a 4-year teaching degree in a few weeks too and I wish I was getting a goodie box! Doubt my husband will think to get me anything lol
As for what to put in it...maybe make some 'vouchers' for things you are willing to do for her when she comes home to visit, sort of like those chequebooks you can get - like 'this voucher entitles you to one load of washing and ironing' and other stuff, like a proper sunday lunch or trip to the cinema?
Best of luck to your daughter:heartpulsSpoiling my two baby girls with love - it's free and it's fun!:heartpuls
I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?

Thanks Kym - have seen those around. That's a nice idea.

If you live near an Ikea they do really nice fleecy blankets that are really cheap - a couple of those would come in really handy. Great for snuggling up in, using as an extra bedspread, picnic blankets, handy for throwing round your shoulders rather than turning the heating on ... The added bonus is that they wash really well, and dry very quickly without needing tumble drying.
Oh, and I found a hot water bottle handy tooAgain, something you definitely appreciate when you move out of halls and have to pay heating bills on top of your rent! Slipper socks are great too, not the trendiest items of footwear but soooo warm. A nice tub of hot chocolate and a mug would be appreciated too, for those long cold nights spend studying!

That's such a nice idea!
If she's a bit of a foodie, you could get her some seasonings - salt, pepper, herbs & spices, things like worcester sauce etc. Cheap food tastes better with flavourings!
Tupperware is another useful boring thing she's probably not going to want to buy herself.
You could get her a vase - not expensive obviously, because anything vaguely delicate will probably get broken - but nothing spruces up a student room/flat (translation - the land that vacuum cleaners forgot) like fresh flowers, and no one ever seems to have anything to put them in apart from old beer bottles.

Don't think it's been said, but as a student i used to HATE buying laundy tablets/capsules (which are better in laundrettes than boxes or bottles of stuff). Hope that helps!0

Duvet and pillow if she doesn't have them to take already, the ones suppiled in halls (if there are any) will be horrible.
Also she should take bedding, sheets etc, even these are supplied with the room, the ones I saw when I was in halls were very suspect, people were often discovering hairs and stains on the 'freshly laundered' ones.
A blanket or two and a rug is a good idea too.0
