Lynz,
Sorry, I can't remember the name of the shop, just that it's right in the heart of Greenwich.
Just reading spendaholic's post reminded me that there are often record fairs going on. Usually advertised in local papers but you might be able to hunt around on the net. He'd get more for them too, I expect.0 -

Around this time of the year schools are often looking for invigilators for exams and the hourly rate is quite good. Our school is looking for them and i think they just want people with a good level of education. I'll try to think of something else. Come to think of it, if he likes kids, it is fairly easy to become a teaching assistant, we have a male one at our school and the kids love him. He was a bus driver before. Dont know though if he might need to do a course in your neck of the woods. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Also if he has a degree it is relatively easy to get into teaching. My husband went through a bit of a crisis like this in his early thirties. He was an HGV lorry driver but he wasnt earning enough so he went to work in a factory. Both he and his brother had done a pottery course at college and his brother had been set up in a workshop by his wealthy in laws. My OH wanted to go in with him as his partner as my OH is the hard worker but it was refused. The pottery business soon collapsed as the brother didnt start work each day till past 2 and then finished at 4. My OH was in the factory job for a few years but had to give up because the noise was damaging his hearing. He started work as a dustman but it only lasted one day because his weak knee gave out on him. Then he brought some brushes and became a chimney sweep!! Self employed, it was quite a lucrative earner and probably still is if you dont mind getting dirty. Eventually he went on a government course to be a plumber but in those days they didnt train you properly so he had to learn everything on site. He was lucky enough to get a job. The problem is nowadays that the government only seem to be training immigrants for building jobs such as plumbing, carpentry, electrics etc. Not that I've got anything against immigrants but maybe it would be possible for him to get onto a course and do something like that. I dont know what hes like obviously, whether hes practical or not. Out of time. Off to work now.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Thanks gang, well yes, he is in computers, but he doesnt have all his tools any more and tools = money. IN saving that, there might be a chance of getting some stuff at the car boot.
I did suggest he do a course of some description ( plumbing or electrician) as even if he was part time, he could make bits of money putting in lightfittings ( £60 a pop I was quoted) but the course is long, expensive and often full time, and we really cant afford for him not to be working at the mo. Im sure something will come up, Ive said that soon enough, Ill be out of debt & wil have more cash to offer if he wants to do a course, but hes not found anything he REALLY wants to do yet, so doesnt want to waste the money on something half-baked.
Weve seen a few more perm jobs so we will be applying for those. I think we are both rather impatient lol so we just need to learn how to tread water more
Cheers agian:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Re: Invigilating, thats worth a try as the college that I work for also has vacancies.
I know its only tiny things but is here registered on Pigsback etc too? It would help wiht little treats.
My DP is doing a web design course at the moment. Our College of FE has flexible courses where you can attend when you like, you just book your slot. This includes Saturdays mornings. The course was about £70 but DP is going to do some sites for friends for a bit of extra cash.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0
