How much to reupholster dining chairs

I am looking for a new dining suite and saw a second hand one on ebay which is ideal except the chairs are in need of re-covering (back and seat is upholstered).

Ideally I would like chocolate brown leather or failing that chocolate brown suedette type fabric, but have no idea how much this is likely to cost.

Is this just going to be uneconomic compared to buying new chairs?

Depends what the chairs are like but if it's just a recover, rather than a re upholstery job you could do them yourself. It's not as difficult as you would imagine. Honest. Get a book from the library & have a look. If they need reupholstering then you can still do it yourself, it'll just take a bit longer. A big bit longer (4 dining chairs done, only 4 to go.... ) I enroled at an evening class when I was quoted over £2,500 to have a suite upholstered. It still has a throw over it, but I'll get to it eventually...maybe... :rotfl:
I always thought professionals charged crazy prices, but having done it myself & seen the amount of work involved, can understand now.
Try calling some for a quote to get a rough idea. Leather is very expensive at the mo apparently (although there are lots of types). I'm sure someone in my class paid £100+ for a hide & you'd need one for each chair. However my MIL has just bought oak & leather dining chairs & they were £275 each!
