Buying shares

I would like to buy my husband one share of dc comics as a quirky christmas present. Does anyone know the best place to start? :o

Your bank is normally a good place. If you go onto your banks website they will normally have a section for stocks and shares. I'm not completely sure on giving them as a gift so i would wait for better advice.

Lovely idea though, its really thoughtfull :-)

    i'm not sure you can,
DC Comics is simply a division of Time Warner, so shares will be Time Warner shares not DC Comics shares

What he/she said I'm afraid, so I'm not sure it would have the same impact for your other half.

Time Warner Inc trades on the New York Stock Exchange. If you still wanted to go ahead with it, then speak to your bank - they'll usually carry out single trades and provide certificates for a reasonable price (£10-£25).

And Time Warner is tied up with AOL I believe. I have bought shares a few times but have an idea I asked about buying them in someone else's name and was told no. I don't know how much these shares are trading at but is there any point in buying one? I am referring to the cost of the purchase. The nearest I have got is transferring shares to another person after I bought them for myself.
