Gig Tickets Scam

Hi there
THis is my first time posting as I am so sickened by gig ticket scams and such and wondering if there is anything that can be done about it. My example is this; this morning I attempted to get tickets for a gig at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh. I checked online last night and it stated that the tickets went on sale at 10am on friday morning. However, a 'partner' site already had them on sale at an escalated price (£50 per ticket over the actual face value price, so £90 per ticket) and it made me furious and also made me wonder how many tickets are actually going on sale to the public on the stated date.
This morning I logged on to the ticket site selling them at the face value and I got onto the purchase page, was told I had 15 minutes to securely buy my tickets, once I put my details in (which took about 3 minutes) and pressed purchase the screen said, "tickets now unavailable". WHen I tried again they were totally sold out...at 10.08!!! So after a very sweary rant I decided to post something on here and ask if anyone else finds this touting utterly wrong and disgusting and is there anything I or we can do to fight it cause the real fans aren't actually getting the chance to see the bands they want at the price the band has set the tickets at!!!!!!!!! Is it just me?!?!
Also, aplogies if I'm on the wrong forum...

What do you mean by "Partner site". Was it linked to by the Corn Exchange website or recommended in any way by The Corn Exchange, or was it just a site selling tickets they probably didn't have yet? There are lots of sites that sell tickets before they come available. Many of them don't have the tickets they are offering, they just list them and hope they will be able to get some tickets to supply at a later date. Personally, I would have nothing to do with any website that is selling tickets for more than face value.
As for the main site having problems. that's an issue with every popular gig. Even sites like Ticketmaster slow to a crawl or stop completely when popular gigs go on sale. I don't think there is anything wrong here, there was most likely just so much demand that the website couldn't cope and your tickets were sold to someone else.0
