Backback 6months on Strap fraying

I won a Vango 40+8 airvent backpack way back in February.
The bag has been fantastic but only used lightly.
I have been on two camping trips recently and one of the straps that hold the top down is starting to fray where it is stiched into the bag.
The seller is a shop selling new and refurbed equipment, nearlynewtesnts. I sent of an email yesterday and had nothing back. I checked the vango website and states to go through the reseller first.
Is the eaby shop under rights to deal with my warranty claim?
I am assuming the strap can be restitched so would be happy with a partial refund to get it fixed locally.
