my medion laptop is about 3 years old now(specs 1.8ghz processeor 1gb ram widnows vista ) and when i start up windows sometimes it goes all the way through to the windows desktop then just hangs and doesent load the programs on startup (ie antivirus graphics card msn ) it wont let me click on anything tho the mouse can be moved and i can open task manager butit wont do anything else (it wont shutdown either ) so have to hard reset it then usually comes on fine and i cna acces internet explorer etc

ive ran a virus check but apart from some niggly cookies it didnt like it didnt find anything major i decided to show all process from users (when it hanged last) and theres was a bout 12 processes all name tqvwdopr.exe now ive ran that name in google and it doesent come up with anything

anybody have any ideas

could it be something simple like my ram chip is on its way out or is the whole laptop going
i really cant afford to buy a new one and i need it to do my work

  • Could be many things. One thing you could try is updating the BIOS. Check the Medion website for any updates.
Try also disabling each program that loads on start up and see if that makes a difference.

Does it have the problem whether plugged into the charger or not?

use ccleaner and use the Tools-Startup page to disable anything that's not needed
  • Not worth the time cleaning up and you won't really know whats left lurking that you no longer require, get the data off and clean install. You'll find it much faster too.

The name is probably randomly generated, which means it's almost certainly the result of an infection.
  • This might sound really random, but try taking the battery out and putting it back in again. (Unplug from the wall at the same time)

I had a problem on mine (XP) that I would enter my password, and then it would just stop at the welcome screen. Someone suggested that I take the battery out and put it back in again, and it worked.

Maybe cutting off all the power reset something, I don't know!

  • I suggest you give the ESET Online Scanner a try. If your own antivirus didn't pick up the initial infection there's no telling what else it might have missed!
