Reaper, et al - Mary ;)

Had previously (about four weeks ago) started to slowly increase my credit limit online (applied for an extra £1500 to take the limit up to £9k). Based on the confirmations above thought I'd have ago at increasing the limit again before I stoozed the available balance; so asked for a £2k rise (to £11k) - got refused.

Opinions: Is it probably worth leaving this alone now or perhaps go for a £1k / £1.5k increases after a suitable wait?

Whats people's experience of Egg after being refused a raise?

It's probably a bit of a lottery.  My timescale was something like:

    Initially given £4k
after 4 months, increased to £6k
after 2 months, increased to £10K
Didn't go any further, as I would have been at the end of my 8 months period (or whatever it was))

    Husband given £6K
after 4 months, increased to £10K
after 2 months, increased to £15K

Neither of us was refused, so can't really comment.
But I would suggest in your case maybe prolong by a couple of months and then try again.     If you've only had the card a couple of months now, perhaps they want to see you can manage the repayments comfortably first.    IMO patience is the name of the game, much as your fingers want to press that button again.

However, there are folks who have magically raced up the £15K ladder in a very short space of time.     But if you've been declined, then definitely sit tight.

Yeah, trying to hold back ;D

I was just wonderign if the refusal was an Egg thing (as you say timescales, repayments, etc, etc) or whether it could be linked to my general stoozing amount (£34k in total).

The other aspect is that I was wondering if anyone knew whether this refusal might find its way to credit reference agency's as I would like to take out a Virgin (MBNA) Card and SBT my Cahoot 0% loan to this mid Feb.

I was refused an increase by Egg in ~Jul (during my 5 month anniversary). An "Enquiry" was logged with Experian for this.

I requested and got an increase from £9 to £10K, omline in Dec and got a new CC (MBNA) with a £15K limit in Sept, so it seem no harm was done.

    Hope this helps

From what I have heard an "Enquiry" is not the same as a "Search". Only a Search counts against you.
