use the wing mirrors, how can it go wrong?
forget thr rear view mirror, use the left and right wing mirrors for reverse parking.
Yes, after all the several million vehicles in this country that have no rear windows must struggle awfully. How do they manage?
Oh I know, they look in their mirrors and use the remarkably supernatural 'power of eyesight' to manoeuvre their vehicles.
You don't need a rear view mirror to reverse a vehicle.0 -
SIL come home with a brand new company car. They have no choice in the matter as the company makes machinery that rips the core out of the earth so the MD insists they drive green cars. This years fad is the new to the market Toyota Prius, 2ltr engine now + electric drive. Whether it's actually green or not is another issue, but it has the neatest and most effective rear view camera system I've ever seen. Looks like a parking sensor but you don't see it as it's mounted under the boot release. Gives a superb wide angle view to the rear from the dash.
Do you need it, no, not if your neck and eyes work, but great for anyone with problems viewing out of the rear window. :TI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Well, I've had about 10 cars over the time I've been driving, and driven many thousands of miles all over South Africa (not known for it's soft driving skills), and yet I'm having a little trouble with this car. As the car actually won't go into the garage (I reverse in) without squashing the wing mirrors in, I disagree with this. I need to get used to where the edges of this car are.
The largest cars I've had were a BMW 520 and a Nissan Skyline (I had Company cars and changed jobs every 3 years or so, so have driven lots of different size cars, and always got used to them very quickly). It's just that this one has less visibility. And, indeed, the wing mirrors show a different magnification from my last car, I need to get used to that.
Is anyone watching The ONE show at the moment. Studies have shown that men have a larger bit of the brain predisposed to moving things, that means they develop the brain that controls judgment of speed and space via the practice they get from childhood.
I've never been happy with driving the Combie type van, and am concerned that having been someone who was proud of their driving skills, I have now lost confidence. But just got to get on with it, really.

Yes, but you have to admit, there are may cars that have impossible rear vision, not to mention loaded vans estates etc. Most capable drivers can manage with the wing mirrors, but obviously they wouldn't now be fitting parking sensors, cameras etc if all was perfect.
I must admit I have problems not in parking but in viewing through the rear window. I had a serious accident a couple of years ago and now do not flex as fully as I should do. But by using all 3 mirrors I am as capable in tight parking as anyone. However I will look for a camera jobby next time I change cars.;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
