Boiler and heating insurance...

Not really sure where to post this......basically I'm trying to find out if British Gas home care will allow you to do one of their packages if you already have a problem with your boiler?

We have been looking at the homecare 400 package (flexi), we have a bolier that is only 4 years old (we have a house that is only 4 years old too!) it has been leaking for months and lots of our neighbours boilers have gone kaput! Help we cant afford new boiler!

I am interested in this as well. Boiler is 3 yrs old, just move house & it is working. One radiator apppears to have been leaking in the past and I was thinking of taking home care 200 just in case of any problems in the future. I was told they will come and check the boiler and central heating first. Hope this helps.

yes when we took it out, they came along and spent a couple of hours or so, checking everything is working ok, then each yearly check onlytakes about 30-40 mins

Thanks, the boiler should pass the inspection, am not sure about the radiators!! I was told if there are issues with the radiators, I will be told to sort them out but will not be charged for the inspections. Am I right? My mum added plumbing and electrics on her homecare 200 and nobody came to inspect.

Sadly my experience is that British Gas are more likely to condemn boilers etc and other related equipment rather than finding cheaper pragmatic solutions. I would always recommend you get a local gas engineer that comes recommended by friends etc.

i had a problem with my boiler, had no cover, phoned british gas, they then sold me the cover, and i got a call out which they charged me for, and fixed the problem. so yes you can get the cover but have to pay the one off call out charge, cant remember how much that was tho.
