free online kitchen planner?

Options
reading that 'other' thread on here about kitchens has made me want to see if i can find an online kitchen planner, but so far you need to register with them all first, dont want to do that, are there any that you dont need to register or pay for??

i have a really un user friendly kitchen, badly planned, hardly any worktop space and a door right on the corner of it out to a utility room, its driving me mad

Have you tried the Ikea one?

It's free, but the kitchen options are limited to what they sell.

Ikea's is free, but you have to register and it isn't THAT good.

Best option is to take your measurements into Wickes, they will do you a free design...

ok, i have tried to get something on a planner or even office drawing. but cannot do it.

if you're able to follow these explanations, what would you do with this kitchen.

the north wall is 333cm long. it has a window in it which is 108cm wide which is 47cm in from the left hand side of the edge of the wall.

the west wall is 220cm long. it has a door in it, which currently opens in to the kitchen. the door is about 1m wide and is about 15cm in from the left hand edge of the wall as you face it.

the south wall is 260cm long.

the west wall also has a boiler on it, in a cupboard

there is no east wall as this blends into the dining room, the original wall was knocked down.

    the kichen is unbelievably useless

the door way leads out into the utility room. i cant think of anywhere else to have the door. i thought of putting it under the stairs to give me more space int he kitchen but it would mean moving the electrical meter. we have the electric board coming next week to tell me how much it might cost.

I'll plan something out for you if I get the chance at work tomorrow...

Where about is the boiler situated? i.e. distance from one of the other walls, height of the boiler, distance from the floor and size of the cupboard it's in...

the boiler is on the west wall, right next to the north wall. its in a wall cupboard, about one and a half times the height of a normal wall cupboard but probably about half the depth. i wouldnt mind the boiler being relocated out to the utility room.

its the worktop space really, theres nothing next to the oven and the hob is somewhere else. we have to leave a space around the door to the utility room because of getting through it with washing etc.... arrgghhhh

i noticed a house across the road today, it had the front door open so i could see through to the kitchen. they obviously hadnt changed the layout of the rooms or combined the kitchen and diner together, im wondering whether to put the wall back would give more space, but then to get to the dining room, you would have to walk out into the hall......

I take it the hob is on the north wall and the oven is on the south wall?

nope, believe it or not, the oven is on the west wall right next to the door!!!! the only work top next to the oven is in the corner of the west and north walls, under the boiler cupboard, along the north wall, moving east is the drainer, followed by the sink, then some worktop, then the hob then some more work top. each section of work top along there is the width of a standard cupboard (which is underneath). ho hum

in order to use a free kitchen planner (which i couldnt use in the end) i had to register with KBBC (kitchen, bathrooms bedrooms and ?), they phoned today asking to come round to give me a quote. seeing as we are around on thursday, i said to come round. however, their website gives absolutely no indication of how much their kitchens would cost, not even a sort of 8 unit comparison. you have to send your email address off with sizes and stuff to get the online quote, cant be bothered with that. does anyone have any knowledge of them and how much they cost?

wow, just looked at your diagram of my kitchen, excellent, its exacly right, except that the oven is in a floor to ceiling (almost) unit next to the boiler (i think its called integrated, its at eye level), we therefore have only worktop and underneath cupboards along the south wall, with a gap to get to the door. we have wall cupboards on the south too. the door opens inwards to the kitchen, with the hinge side next to the oven.
we have the fridge freezer nearest the door on the south side.

amazed that you have understood what im talking about, i dont know all the technical terms!!!

at right angles from where you have put the fridge (in the birds eye picture), moving down from it, is the door to the kitchen diner, you approach the door from the hall and then the kitchen is on your sharp left. as you face the non existant east wall, thats the dining room.

i wondered today about having a set of work tops jutting out from the end of the north wall, at right angles but leaving enough room to get in the kitchen?

at the end of the north wall of units, carrying on along the wall is the back door and windows to the dining room.
