gardening in france?

my partner says that if you are doing gardening in France such as planting veggies and fruit you need a specific book on gardening in France rather than a book you would have based on fruit and veg in the UK . is this really the case? and if so can anyone recommend any books on this in English? thanks in advance.

I would have thought that the same rules apply wherever you are gardening - check the soil, add organic matter, make sure the plants are sited correctly (e.g. in sun if they like sun) etc. I would have thought all that sort of advice would be pretty universal, but I'd be very interested to know if there are any specific tips for planting in France.
There's a message board on the BBC website - see http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening
- this has some good (and free!) advice and might be able to help.
