In the W.H.Smiths sale a really durable looking rucksack from swissgear, the makers of the swiss army knife, to take your laptop and plenty of other stuff in with loads of great features.Reduced from £49.99 to £24.99. The cheapest I found these elsewhere is on ebay for around £40 , or £54 from dixons and pc world. It looks a bit like thishttp://www.dixons.co.uk/product.php?sku=840851&camp_id=froogle but is all black.
It has a 'quik pocket at the top for essentials, including a bit for an mp3 and a 'port' to put your earphones through...
Shock absorbing shoulder straps
Breathable padding Air flow channels
Essentials organiser in the front pocket
casebase stabilizer platform
Fits most 15/15.4 widescreens
open access pouch pocket
expandable laptop pocket
lots of little nets and straps that look pretty useful though I can't say exactly what for.. yes this is a swiss army knife of a laptop case.
Perhaps David Cameron could consider one for his cycling problems?

We bought one in the Xmas sale. You can fit a hell of a lot of stuff in it and it's very sturdy and well made too. When it comes to thought, some people stop at nothing.........0

Hi Mcallister1 - just popped out to one store in central london, and they had some similar rucksacks, but all I could find was a targus one for £39.99, not reduced.
Rang a local store and they had none iether, but had a 'free spirit' one redeced from £34.99 to £24.99 - really like the sound of this swissgear one though!
Is there any 'item number' I could use to ask them to check stock in other stores you might have?
Or even the item description on your receipt might be useful.
Is it one of these by any chance:

Mines not here at the mo as OH is away, but I think it looks like the 'Maxxum' one out of those. When it comes to thought, some people stop at nothing.........0

Yes, it is the maxxum. They had at least 3 in Chelmsford yesterday, if that would help.It isn't the one from the link there- it has more pockets, mesh ones at the side. I'll look for my receipt. They were with all the reduced stuff at the front of the shop, under the reduced stationery. Hope you get one- I think it looks better than the targus- its really sturdy and with lots of pockets.0

Hiya - thanks for replying, so just to clarify, are you saying it is the one pictured as the maxxum, ie:
Or that is it similar, but a bit different?
Alas Chelmsford isn't nearby, but I haven't given up hope yet, might go for a hunt around on Saturday - any info from your receipt greatly appreciated!

Yes that is it exactly, in that colour. Here is the receipt code-

Many thanks for that, I tried 2 more Smiths stores, one was large, both In London, but the closest I got was a Swiss Laptop bag, but it was very small.
My gf is on the lookout near where she works, so hopefully I will find one.
If not, then hopefully they will be in the next sale, seeing as libitina says they got one before christmas.
Cheers for the receipt info btw.

Bought this one last week, last one in store and this is a superb bag, infact they had the Targus bag next to it and in comparision Targus looks and feels like a rag!0

Got one of these at full price (£££49.99) from Staples a couple of weeks ago. However, I had a look at the one Smiths are offering and it's slightly different, not exactly the same, looks like an older design to me. Mine has more zips where this one has a sort of pockety thing.
Having said that, I'd have gone for this at £24.99 as they're both blooming good bags and it did the job on my trip to the States last week, very comfy and quite light, tons of room, more zipped pockets than I can count.
Staples do the full range of Swiss gear bags or whatever they're called, including a trolley laptop bag thing for a whopping £79, if you're interested.0
