I have exactly the same hanging in wardrobe, bought it from primark a couple of years ago for under £15

Who would ever pay that much for anything from Primark? It's guaranteed to fall apart after a couple of washes.

I must admit to selling a couple of free trial vouchers I was sent which a quick qoogle search would reveal a 100 codes for the same offer.

My Primark t shirts have outlasted the Lacoste ones my son bought. I even sent a £50+ one back to Lacoste once with a letter of complaint as five washes rendered it unwearable, their response was that these items are sold as 'high fashion' and the level of wear is not the same as the basic wearing range (or some such nonsense) so basically the stuff is to be looked at not worn!

Put your dress on Ebay for £50 then, I'll bet someone will buy it just because it'll be percieved as a bargin when compared to this one...it's crazy what some people will buy http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110419162317 :rotfl:

OMG, is she mental?! I see she has declined three offers already. I really hope no-one is stupid enough to pay £99 for a dress that probably cost £10/£12.
  • It's a question of supply and demand. I think that kiwi_fruit's dress is fabulous but I wouldn't pay that amount for it - regardless of how much it originally cost. However, there are people out there who also like the dress, missed it when it was in the shops and are now prepared to pay the price the seller is asking for it now on eBay. Good luck to the seller I say - I wish I had a couple of them to sell in my wardrobe!

The thing is, Primark produces so many incarnations of the same pieces of clothing in varying gaudy patterns- it's not like anything from there looks original, you can spot a Primark dress/top/coat a mile off. Regardless of supply and demand, no-one in their right mind would pay £99 for that dress when they could go to any high street shop and find a very similar one for a potential tenth of the price.

Primark though changes its entire stock several times a year, so whilst the same thing may be available in a hundred different variations once they are sold off they are gone for good.

I have two Primark dresses from about 4 years ago and i have worn them until they have nearly fallen apart, I would pay a real premium to replace them with something similar. Unfortunately the current stock is completely different.

I have a tagged Primark maxi dress in my wardrobe that is a little too big but I lost the receipt and never bothered to get a refund ..am sooo tempted to list it at a silly BIN and see if there are any takers.

  • I'm not disagreeing - I think it is stupid, but there are people out there who do have more money than sense. You only have to look in magazines to see a high st v designer feature - some people want to spend the money. Do all the various Wags out there need 18 variations of one designer handbag? No, they have the money and so they spend it. It sticks in your throat if you love saving money though - that's why we are on Money Saving Expert website and not Reckless Spendthrift Expert. Maybe I should start up my own site moremoneythansense.com - teaching either wealthy or reckless people how to waste money!
