Any teachers..11+ query

dd has done quite a few 11+ tests and done pretty well in them but there is one particular one that comes up and stuns us both as we have no idea of the pattern..one for example is:

The number codes 3152, 3455 and 5213 stand for three of the words MISS, SHAM, MASH and HAMS. Work out the code for each of the four words.

2.
MISS 3152 3455 5543 5213 Don't Know 3.
SHAM 5213 3455 3152 1255 Don't Know 4.
MASH 5213 3455 1345 3152 Don't Know 5.
HAMS 5312 3455 5213 2135 Don't Know

Help thanks!

    3455 is obviously MISS as it ends in two numbers the same.
    From that you know:
    3 = M
    4 = I
    5 = S
    So 3152 is: M.S.
    5213 is S..M
    So 3152 must be MASH and 5213 must be SHAM
    So HAMS is out of the picture.
    Now you know:
    1 = A
    2 = H
    3 = M
    4 = I
    5 = S

    HAMS is therefore 2135
