This natural remedy often works for me.

Lay flat on your back in bed. Stiffen every single muscle in your body from top to toe and hold for ten seconds. Then slowly relax them.
    Repeat a second time.

I find this inevitably leads to me yawning, and then I never remember anything else until I wake up in the morning.

That's what I do, learned that little trick at yoga classes. I can't sleep anywhere other than in my own bed, yet following this technique I could fall asleep in a room full of people on a cold wooden floor.

I do one big finale: tensing every muscle I possibly can at the same time, then take ten slow deep breaths (whilst stifling the yawns) You'll be asleep before you know it.

    Hello there

This is not medical advice but i would recommend you go and talk to your GP. Not keen on Do it your self medicating

Otherwise there are a lot of good ideas here - milky drink, relaxing bath, no caffeine or alcohol, and not overstimulating your mind before bed - eg watching TV in bed etc.

If you cant sleep because of things that pop into your head when you lie down and turn off the light then keep a notebook and pen by the bed so that if something pops into your head that you need to do the next day - write it down so you wont forget.

Otherwise - dont let yourself lie in too long in the morning as just like with jet lag - you can end up able to sleep through the morning but not at night - your body clock adjusts if you sleep in.

  • Sounds odd but put ice packs on your pillow 20 mins before bed.... think it works under the same temperature decrease thingy!!!

Just remove the icepacks before you go to bed.. the plan is to make the pillow cold not make urself ill.. lol
