and we didnt expect her to re-direct mail, it was mail which was delivered before the redirection at royal mail fell into place and after we had moved. She didnt just write 'no longer at address' and return it to sender, nor did she give the mail to my friends who lived next door - she took it home and is now ignoring my calls.

You should write to her to say that you want to collect your mail and ask her to say when would be convenient. If she ignores you, just call round and speak to her. You mention a disability, so you can get somebody else to call round. If she refuses to hand over your mail, you can then involve the Police, although they are probably not going to be that helpful.

What happened about the missing cheque?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • im so annoyed!! The woman in the post office said we would just have to wait!! this could have prevented ALOT of hassle :(

  • Just get your mail redirected.

Unfortunatly there is no mail theft here. The mail once delivered, is delivered. Once it is delivered there is no obligation to hand it to you.

If your lucky she may forward it, but she is just as likely to bin it.

If the card has been used, that is a bank issue. The Police aren't responsible for card fraud nowadays the banks are.

Have you considered that maybe Royal mail lost some of the items? I worked for a company once where about 10% of the mail received was not for us, but for other local businesses.
