Upper chain and completion dates

I would like to find out what the position is of the people above me in our chain with regard to completion dates, i.e. do they want to move asap or in school holidays etc. Would I be best to ask my solicitor or my seller's EA? Who generally holds info about all parties?
What did I do at work before I discovered MSE?!

DFD - WAS: a while ago

NOW - not sure, due to boyfriend going back to uni for masters and now pgce. Worth it in the long run!
Proud to be dealing with my debts!

    I'd ask the solicitor.

Ask your solicitor, the EA will call them to find out what stage they are at. The solicitors involved shoud be able to give a better idea of the timescale they will require to get their side of things ready, then they need to look at the wishes of the sellers/buyers in the chain.

I would highly recommend you speak to them direct if at all possible. EA's and solicitors can provide the service, but the EA's information may be influenced by other events (other parties in the chain and/or problems they don't want you to know of). There's nothing like direct contact and there's nothing to stop you contacting direct.
