Onetel and overide providers - The solution?

I have been contacted by onetel to tell me that I have a balance of £92 pence. I have spoken to them three times and even done their homework by telling them what the problem is. Since Martin mentions the case in his wekkly email I thought that I would forward the email I sent Onetel on the matter (no reply yet, of course). They said that I had to wait until I received my monthly bill.

I think I will keep pestering them until I get the riht bill and then leave.

Here is the copy of the email

After careful consideration I believe the problem in this case lies with the
fact that on your websites the number 0844200 are not listed (I have checked
http://www.onetel.co.uk/index.php?node=landline-call-rates-nongeo) and
therefore for the premium number g22 you have input the price quoted by bt with
a mistake: instead of charginig me 0.55 p per minute the system has "read" 55 p
per minute. I have been researching based on the information provided by
costumer services and have also found the evidence to prove this.

If you go to http://www.downloads.bt.com/pricing/SpecialisedNos.pdf you will
find the rates. I will copy and paste teh information. On page 8 (10 of 34) you
can see that the number is type g22
0844 200 g22 (pasted from the website)

If you then go to page page 25 (27 of 34) of that same webpage you will find the
following information regarding pricing:

Pence per minute
Daytime Evening & night-time Weekend
Exc. VAT Inc. VAT Exc. VAT Inc. VAT Exc. VAT Inc. VAT

g22 - Calls not including Internet Services 0.425 0.50 0.425 0.50 0.425 0.50

I hope this is clear enough, since I am providing you with all the basic
information and, as I was informed from a member of your costumer service team
on wednesday 19th April, you charge me what BT advises you to charge and. I
hope these mistakes can be changed in my account before the bill is generated.

I would also be very grateful if you could reply to this email as soon as you
have confirmed that the details submited are correct.

Yours,

Enrique Nieto

A few months ago I came across some numbers not listed on the Onetel site. So I phoned their freephone number to ask them what the charges were.

They told me to use http://www.icstis.org.uk/ to check the cost.

You may want to refer Onetel to the ICSTIS site.

This is what the Icstis site says about one of the half pence a minute 0844 numbers.

"This is what we know about the number you entered (08442004040).

ICSTIS does not regulate this type of number. However we can tell you the following.
This is classified as a Special Services basic rate: up to and including 5p for BT customers (non-internet) number.
It is provided by Connect Telecom UK Ltd.
And costs .5ppm [in pence or pounds where 'pm' means 'per minute' and 'pc' means 'per call']."
