Hi! Im new to this so after some help. I have a personal loan with Halifax, which I took out in June 2007, including insurance, which I was told will cover me anytime when your not at work and it also looks better when you apply...so I took it out. Now Im going to be going off on adoption leave, so not getting my full wage, just the statutory..so Ive phoned Halifax to make a claim and been told no I cant claim..I explained to the lady on the phone..she wasnt interested and told me sorry, they couldnt help and to go to speak to my branch if I had a problem....so my question is...is this my stupid fault for not reading all the in's n out's
OR should I be able to put a claim in for wrong selling? Thanks in advance.

Hi Donna and welcome.;)
How annoying this is for you......
But anyway, now in your case, I would write to them and tell them your not happy with the way this have worked out after being talked into taking this out, where they tried to make it look good on application of your loan, tell them it's totally worthless to you.
Ask them to refund you all you have paid and the interest paid etc, and you expect to hear from them in 8 weeks of your date on your letter, this is what they are entitled to, there is a link to help you through this with templates etc, which I would personally use as a guide but use your own words and obviously your reasons you have.
If they do not resolve, sometimes they say you can write back for them to consider, so basically do this until they either resolve in your favour or until they issue you with the final decision which should also enclose the details of the FOS (Financial ombudsman service) you can take your complaint to these if your not happy with the outcome.
Best as well to post letters by recorded delivery as this is your proof of posting.

Good luck with this Donna, please keep us posted and ask for help when required, you do not need to write the amount down on your letter at this time.;)
