Time Warp Wives

This programme looks interesting

Time Warp Wives, Thursday 03 September, 8:30pm - 9:00pm on More4

Radio Times blurb says

... four women who are desperate to be old-fashioned housewives. Joanne, Debbie, Diane and Sammi all hanker after life in a different era. And it's not just about vintage clothes and decor. They have vintage values to match. With growing numbers of people in the UK choosing to adopt a 1950s-style way of life, is it just a retro-fashion trend or could it be a vision of the future?

Couldn't see anything on the forum about this so apologies if mentioned elsewhere :)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

I think I've seen that. They were all a bit weird tbh -definitely living in a timewarp and if I remember correctly none of them had children. It must be much harder to live like that with kids.

It is perfectly possible to be a traditional housewife without getting into costume to do it. Still, if they're happy...

I've seen it too I think, they even have 1950s houses - all kitted out. it was quite weird but worth a watch, if not to confirm you are sane, and these people clearly are not....
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I watched some of the original programme (I got bored and stopped watching :o) and this same thing struck me - you could be kind to the neighbours or have a clean, stuff free house if you wanted to - without actually having to feel you belong to a certain era.

I felt there were other issues going on to be honest - but nice that people with a common...I don't want to say obsession, so maybe hobby? can find each other and be perfectly happy :)

I agree that you can live by methods from earlier decades, without having to change everything to that era. The clothes alone likely cost a lot but I like the smart look some of them have (says she in very casual house clothes!).
    Looks interesting though.

In the newspaper article I really like the 1930s shoes :)
