Scrappage money is it running out?

The reason I ask is that I have read that it may run out soon and I have ordered a new car which will be at the dealers by mid October. My scrappage car has a reg number I am putting on a retention certificate. I started the process yesterday at my local DVLA office, they told me the process takes 3 weeks and not to let the dealer apply for scrappage until I have my new log book as the reg number would be lost if they did.

I think the money is 1/2 way gone so far. It won't run out within 3 weeks anyway.

I calculated this on figures a few weeks ago and i reckoned it will run at jsut after christmas assuming folk don't go daft and orders suddenly rocket. (Knowing my luckit will all be over by November now..:))

The thing to remember is the dealers will be telling folk the monry is running out to get more orders before the end of the year.

    Question:-

If I order a car now and it's delivered in say January when will the dealer get credit for it ((for volume bonuses etc)? This year or next?

The dealer would have started the scrappage process as soon as your car was ordered.

Not good news, I did ring the dealer to tell them what the dvla said so I hope they haven't or I risk losing my reg number.

Gave a letter into the dealer today confirming that I told the sales person on the telephone that the DVLA had said they should not apply for scrappage untill I have the replacement V5 . The guy at the local DVLA office told me that two dealers have already lost customers plates by not waiting for the replacement V5 document. At least if they do make a mistake I have a record of having told them.
  • I thought that the scrappage fund was calculated to include all the cars that could fit it i.e. 10 years plus and owner over 12 months. Think I heard a figure of 250,000 eligible cars against the 300 mil fund

    Can anybody confirm this?
